Opening with the sparse “Run Devil Run,” Lewis - backed by the nearly hometown girls, twins Chandra and Leigh Watson of Kentucky - ushered all bad spirits out of the intimate Belcourt Theatre setting the sold-out crowd up for an outstanding show where the music seemed to transcend time and genre. From my seat five rows back, standing between my new friend from Memphis and an old friend that came up from Chattanooga, I was in direct eye contact with Lewis as she sang heartbreaking personal songs that, frankly, gave me chills. read more
What’s in the works for death comesto matteson?We are finishing up a new album right now and will be touring as much as we can this summer.
How was recording your latest material different than your previous outings?This is the first rock album (non-annual-acoustic) that we’ve recorded as a band. In the past, Matteson would go into a studio and bring along whomever was able to record with him at the time. Plus, we flew to Seattle to record most of it at Red Room Studio. read more
